Revenues for lithium and derivatives totaled US$2,241.3 million during the twelve months ended December 31, 2024, a decrease of 56.7% compared to US$5,180.1 million recorded for the twelve months ended December 31, 2023. Revenues for lithium and derivatives totaled US$532.0 million for the fourth quarter of 2024, a decrease of 32.8% compared to US$791.4 million recorded for the fourth quarter of 2023.

Tibet Minerals: Lithium Products Achieved a Gross Margin of 31.85% in 2024

Tibet Minerals reported 2024 lithium product revenue of RMB 362 million with a gross margin of 31.85%, a significant drop from 2023’s 75.53%. Lithium salt production fell 34.61% year-on-year to 5,083.27 tonnes, well below 2023’s 7,773.35 tonnes. For 2025, the company aims to produce 5,000 tonnes of lithium concentrate and 7,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate—both targets lower than 2023’s output. Additionally, its 10,000-ton battery-grade lithium carbonate project reached 95% completion by end-2024, showing minimal progress compared to the 90% completion rate at end-2023.

Hainan ming to test lithium hydroxide production

In 2021, Hainan mining annouced to invest 1.056 billion RMB (147m $) to set up 20kt per year battery grade lithium hydroxide plant in Hainan. The project started contruction in end of 2022. After delayed by more than 1 year, recently the project already finished construction and started to test production. Hainan mining expect to produce the first qualifed BG hydroxide in April 2025.

SIBANYE-Stillwater has withdrawn from the Rhyolite Ridge lithium/boron project

SIBANYE-Stillwater has withdrawn from the Rhyolite Ridge lithium/boron project in the US, a venture that would have required an investment of nearly $500 million for a 50% stake. The Johannesburg-based company announced on Wednesday that after conducting due diligence on a technical report summary submitted by its joint venture partner, ioneer, it concluded the project did not meet its investment criteria under "prudent pricing assumptions." This decision came shortly after the US authorities expedited environmental approval for the project.

Eramet targets to produce 10-13kt Li carbonate in 2025
